Amanda Holden dreading drive from Scotland with Jamie Theakston after he eats too much haggis
Amanda Holden is not looking forward to a car journey from Scotland to Newcastle with Jamie Theakston after he ate his body weight in haggis while north of the border.
BGT judge and Heart Breakfast presenter Amanda was in Scotland with her radio co-host Jamie to support Global Radio’s Make Some Noise charity fund which is supporting small charities doing vital work in the community following the pandemic.
And Amanda and Jamie made the most of some local specialities as they popped into Heart Radio’s HQ in Glasgow city centre.
Amanda revealed: “Jamie has eaten his body weight in haggis. We will find out in the car journey on the way to Newcastle. That will be me suffering then.
She added: “I’m a vegetarian so I had the potato scones which were lovely. Can you imagine what Jamie’s bowels look like now? I’ve got to keep the windows open.”

Jamie laughed: “So far so good. I had deep fried Mars bars, Buckfast brownies, haggis, a full Scottish breakfast, square sausages. Amanda got the memo. We’ve got to share a car for three hours so she’s in for a treat.”
While in Scotland, Amanda and Jamie caught up with Susan Boyle for a rare interview too.
Amanda said: “Years ago I came up to Glasgow for various theatre productions but Britain’s Got Talent was the last time I was up here and we did a big meet and greet in George Square. It was gorgeous and you forget how beautiful the buildings are.
“Susan is in West Lothian, like thirty minutes away and it’s always so amazing to see her. She looked lovely this morning, all lovely and put together. “
Jamie added: “I always thought the two – Amanda and Susan are the two iconic Britain Got Talent personalities. She doesn’t do any interviews these days but said she’d say hi to you.”
The celebrities also met representatives and their families from Cerebral Palsy Scotland and Stirling Carer’s Centre.
Stephanie Fraser who was with Francesca Vernel, her son Daniel, 5, and brother Luca, 7 met Amanda and Jamies and said: “It’s World Cerebral Palsy Day on Wednesday and the money raised from Global’s Make Some Noise will help fund our Cerebral Palsy Babies project for one year.
“That provides specialist physio, speech and language and occupational therapy to 0-3 year olds recently diagnosed with cerebral palsy.
“85 per cent of our annual income comes from fundraising.
Care support officer Carley O’Hare was with young carer Nicola McDonald, 23, who looks after her mum with MS and Elie Rutherford, 17 woh lookes after her gran with advanced Alzheimers.
The girls said: “It’s been great to meet Susan Boyle and Amanda and Jamie today and tell them about our personal stories.
Amanda was in shock when we told her that seven year olds are carers but we do it because its our loved ones.”

Carley added: “Amanda joked that her nine year old daughter can’t even tie her own shoelaces.
“We rely on donations from Global’s Make Some Noise to support young carers like Nicola and Elise.
We support carers from the age of seven to seventeen and then 17-25 right the way through until they become adult carers and the fund we receive help to widen the opportunities and choices we can give carers.”
Amanda said of their meeting: “Normally when we do this from a normal studio we talk about charities but never get to go to places where they are living and breathing and seeing them struggling with the challenges they face..”
Over the last eighteen months they have struggled more than ever before financially and haven’t been able to do fundraising events.
A lot of the charities are hanging on by a thread so Global’s Make Some Noise a real lifesaver. It’s very humbling and is a reality check.”
Tune into Heart Breakfast with Jamie Theakston and Amanda Holden , weekdays from 6:30am – 10am. To donate £10, £20 or £30 to Global’s Make Some Noise text HEART10, HEART20 or HEART30 respectively to 70766.*
