Kate Garraway tells anti-vaxxers to ‘spend an hour in her house’ during powerful message
Kate Garraway has told anti-vaxxers to “come and spend an hour” in her house with husband Derek Draper as he recovers from his Covid-19 battle.
Father-of-two Derek caught coronavirus early in the pandemic and was put in an induced coma as the virus wreaked havoc on his body and organs.
Good Morning Britain presenter Kate issued a powerful statement to those against having the vaccine.
She told The Telegraph’s Stellar magazine: “Listen, I just don’t have the mental space to feel angry. And I understand that this pandemic has been devastating for people in lots of different ways.
“I still feel acutely sorry for the friends whose businesses have gone under, for example. I also get why people feel they should be allowed to make decisions about their own bodies.”
Whilst she understands people’s stance on the vaccine, Kate urged them to consider how they would feel if their loved one was struggling in the same way her husband Derek is.
“But all I would say to those people is, ‘Come and spend an hour in our house,'” she added.
“Because if you knew that two shots would prevent that happening to somebody you loved. I don’t think you’d be left in any doubt.”

Whilst things have been incredibly difficult for the Good Morning Britain presenter and her family, Kate recently shared a positive update on her husband, revealing he “understands everything” now.
“His eyes lit up. We are very clear now that he does understand everything really, and understands everything that I tell him about,” she said as she appeared on the ITV breakfast show.
“He can’t respond still and communicate, and Derek’s been having lots more tests of things. We went to hospital a few weeks ago, (which was) the first time he’d seen medics outside of the home.”
She added: “They asked him to hold his breath and release his breath, he asked absolutely everything they asked of him.
“Also just reactions to things and reactions to the children [Darcey, 15, and Billy, 12], his responses are appropriate. It does really feel that way as if he is reacting.”
