Holly Willoughby missing from This Morning as Josie Gibson steps in to present

Holly Willoughby had to cancel her presenting stint on This Morning at the eleventh hour after becoming ill.

The much-loved host became unwell with a tummy bug just hours before she was due to appear with co-host Philip Schofield on the daily morning show.

But help was at hand, as Josie Gibson was drafted in at the last minute.

Philip explained that Josie was driven back to the studio after Holly wasn’t unable to complete her slot for today’s programme.

He told viewers: “This is a bit of a first! I don’t know, about an hour ago you were on your way to do our live competitions in Surrey.

“Holly Willoughby is not here today because she’s got a tummy bug. You were parachuted in.”

Former Big Brother star Josie admitted she couldn’t believe her luck as she took her place beside Philip in the hot seat.

And a thrilled Josie admitted: “I can’t believe I’m sat here beside you. I grew up watching you!”

Josie also told Phil that a friend who was ‘a bit witchy’ had predicted that she would be hosting the ITV show with him.

And Phil said: “That is second sight for sure.”

Viewers took to Twitter following the news with one saying: “YAY! Josie Gibson is finally presenting This Morning! #JosieGibson #ThisMorning.”
