Comic Rosie Jones endures vile abuse from ableist troll after ‘pregnancy’ post

Comedian Rosie Jones has hit back at ‘ableist’ online trolls who left vile comments on a ‘pregnant’ photo she uploaded to Instagram.

The 31-year-old, who has cerebral palsy, shared the snap of her wearing a fake baby bump during her appearance on BBC show Casualty.

She captioned the pic: “Thank you so much for all the lovely messages about my appearance on Casualty last night.”

According to MyLondon, Rosie was received wide-acclaim for her acting performance, including praise from viewers on social media.

However, the London-based performer today tweeted a screenshot of a offensive comment left on her Instagram post.

The comment reads: “Oh god that baby is going to come out r*****ed just like it’s mom good lord who would screw you.”

Rosie screenshotted the comment and posting it on her Twitter and Instagram Story with the caption: “Just received this Insta comment. Although messages like this are an unfortunately [sic.] regular occurrence for me, I still don’t understand how people are so full of hate they think it’s ok to write this kind of abhorrent abuse.

“Stop ableist abuse. Stop hate online. Stop all of this.”

Many users have jumped to support Rosie on social media with kind words of encouragement.

One person said: “I’ve seen so much stuff like this lately it’s awful. Just know you’ve helped me more than I could possibly ever tell you & it’s clear from the comments under this tweet so many people are supporting you.”

A second comment said: “So terribly sorry you are subjected to such abuse dear Rosie. We love you. Carry on doing your fabulous work. You are wonderful xx”

This is not Jones’ first time doing serious acting. She previously appeared in Silent Witness and also in the daytime medical soap Doctors.

Rosie has recently written her own book and will be appearing in London on Wednesday 5th January in London for a brand new show, Rosie Jones: Work in Progress.
