Janey Godley throws pre-op ‘hen party’ including ‘pin the tumour on the ovary’ game

Janey Godley shared on social media that she is spending the night before her hysterectomy celebrating with a pre-op ‘hen party’.

The Scots comedian has been updating her family on her health across her social media pages, sharing tonight she has been playing ‘pin the tumour on the ovary’.

The 60-year-old comic revealed she had been diagnosed with ovarian cancer last November, and went onto have her operation delayed by seven weeks after contracting coronavirus.

She shared on Twitter her operation will be taking place tomorrow writing: “My last night with my womb, we are having a pre op “hen party” I have been drawing Fallopian tubes on cards and pin the tumour on the ovary, we’re having cocktails of flat water and tomorrow at 7am I am off – thank you Scottish NHS and everyone here for lifting me up.”

Lots of famous faces took to the comments to wish Janey well in her recovery.

Comedian Jason Byrne commented: “Best of luck n love Janey”

Australian comic Julia Morris sent her love to Janey commenting: “Sending all my love your way jx”

Labour MSP Pam Duncan-Glancy replied to her tweet: “Sending hugs and strength (not that you’re short of that). My post op advice is drink ribena and eat haribo strawbs. Your smooth will be dry n taste of weird stuff, the Riben and strawbs will sort that”

Actor Rufus Sewell wished her well writing: “Sending lots of love Janey. See you in the Grouch x”

Actress Leah Macrae replied: “So much love! Yer a brave soldier. Looking forward to a photo of you, post successful op and ready for recovery xx”

Janey’s fans rushed to the comments to share messages of support to the star.

One fan wrote: “Good luck Janey ,your made of strong stuff ,you got this and well soon see you out making us all laugh again”

“I am two months out from a mastectomy and the NHS have been magnificent. You couldn’t be in better hands but sending prayers and positive thoughts to you Janey,” said another.

Someone else replied: “This time tomorrow, the tumour will be gone, you can look forward to that first cup of tea and toast and know that when you wake up from now on the tumour won’t be the first thing you think of. All the best.”

The comedian found viral fame with her dubbed pastiches of Scotland First Minister Nicola Sturgeon’s coronavirus news briefings during the pandemic.
