Holly Willoughby tells how toxic comment from co-star left her in tears

Holly Willoughby has spoken about the moment she was left in tears after one of her co-stars made a horrible comment moments before going on stage.

The This Morning presenter told how she cried and shouted as anger “pulsated” through her body after the jibe from the unknown co-star.

Holly, 40, opened up about the incident in her new book Reflections but didn’t name the colleague or exactly what they had said to her.

She said that the person had criticised her before saying that they’d be there to save her if she messed up, leaving Holly feeling deflated and disrespected.

She wrote: “When they left the room, I cried. I shouted. I called that person every name under the sun and I could feel my anger pulsating through my body.”

She went on to say that she would never have treated a male co-star the way she had been treated.

Holly is one of the most in-demand presenters on UK TV, and has said that she’s worried that people think she’s more concerned about her career than her children – Harry, 12, Belle, 10, and Chester, seven – who she shares with husband Dan Baldwin.

She said on The One Show last night: “I feel guilty about everything. It’s totally normal. But what I would say is – and this is what I really have to focus on – where’s the guilt coming from?

“Because I think the problem with working mums is that I’m feeling guilty because I’m not there to drop my kids off in the morning, because I have to go to work.”

She added: “What I’m feeling guilty about, is that in some way I’m telling myself that I clearly don’t love my kids because I love my career more than my children, which is why I’m choosing to do this.

“And of course, that’s not the case. I know that’s not the case because I know I love my kids more than anything on this planet. So why am I thinking like that? And it’s because I believe that’s what everyone else is thinking.”

Holly said that she’d had to evaluate whose opinions she was going to live by – her own or someone else’s.

She previously told the Mirror: “You live and learn so much, but I particularly feel a responsibility because I have three kids.

“The kids are really hot on it. They learn about it at school and they want to be environmentally friendly.
