Netflix to launch new movie ‘A Castle for Christmas’ and Scots are appalled at depiction

Netflix have unveiled their brand new festive film ‘A Castle For Christmas’ but Scots have been left appalled by the preview as the movie is set there.

The movie, which stars Brooke Shields, is about an American a bestselling author who travels to Scotland, where she falls in love with a castle (it’s actually a manor) and faces off with the grumpy ‘Duke of Dunbar’ who owns it.

Unveiling it on Twitter, Netflix shared the clip on video, and something tells us even they are not convinced.

They wrote: “A CASTLE FOR CHRISTMAS comes to Netflix on 26 November, including Brooke Shields and the most accurate depiction of Scotland ever seen on screen. Honest.”

And Scottish Twitter has reacted.

One wrote: “What did we do to hurt you, Netflix?”

Another added: “Looks like cheesy mills and boon pish. Stand by for sheep, coos, kilts, bagpipes, whisky, nasty English, kilts. wooly jumpers with kilts, someone falling in the loch and getting dry by log fire, shite Scottish accents, a ceilidh, kilts and mair kilts.”

While one commented: “Bloody awful accents, they could have got many brilliant scots actors to do this surely?”

Another laughed: “Could Netflix even point out Scotland on a map? Also that’s a manor no a castle…”

While one added: “I am angry.”

The film is out on Netflix on November 26.
