All Star Musicals viewers slam ITV over host John Barrowman amid sexual misconduct allegations

All Star Musicals viewers have slammed ITV over John Barrowman fronting the show amid sexual misconduct allegations.

The network has faced a social media backlash over Barrowman fronting the show after claims emerged earlier this year that the actor exposed himself repeatedly on the sets of Doctor Who and Torchwood.

All Stars Musicals featured performances from a star-studded cast of Fern Britton, Ben Miller, former MP and broadcaster Gyles Brandreth, presenter Anita Rani, actress Catherine Tyldesley, and sports presenter Radzi Chinyanganya.

The immensely talented judging panel of musical theatre powerhouses Elaine Paige OBE, Samantha Barks, and Trevor Dion Nicholas, is also supported by a live orchestra.

However, despite the top class performances Barrowman’s presence on the show left a foul taste in viewers mouths and they were not happy.

“@ITV please explain why @JohnBarrowman is hosting this show,” wrote one.

Echoing a similar sentiment, another said: ‘Appalling that @ITV are still employing #johnbarrowman #allstarmusicalsatchristmas. He has exposed himself to people and they seemed to have brushed it under the carpet..’

‘I’m surprised John Barrowman is presenting this???’ another added.

But some were thrilled to see Barrowman take centre stage.

“Can @ITV please commission a full series of #AllStarMusicals with @JohnBarrowman. This is exactly the kind of sparkly, cheesy, feel good tv we need right now.”

Another fan was happy to see him on screen, “Looking forward to this I wasn’t in but saved it so we can watch tomorrow. I’ve anything john barrowman is in. He always brings the fun and laughter.”

Barrowman appeared on Lorraine last month in his first sit down interview since the allegations arose to discuss his ‘silly behaviour’ with the breakfast TV host.

‘”I think that if it was now it would be crossing the line,” he told Lorraine. “I think that something that happened 15 years ago – it was bawdy behaviour, silly behaviour.

“It was being done in the confines of the set and we were like a family working together. The fact that it was stories that I’ve already told, I’ve been telling them for years. I haven’t hidden anything.

“They have been exaggerated and they have tried to turn them into sexual harassment, which it absolutely is not.

“The one thing that for me, all the people that are making the fuss about it, they weren’t there. They don’t know the context of things that were done. Like I said, I would never do it now.

“But what we’re not allowing people and myself to do with the continued bashing in the press and everything that is going on just to sell the newspapers, we’re not allowing people to learn to adapt and to change – and that’s the most important thing.”
