David Tennant calls Andrew Marr ‘the epitome of everything good about the BBC’ ahead of exit
Scots actor David Tennant gave high praise to Andrew Marr during the final episode of his Sunday morning BBC show.
Before signing off the show for good, Marr sat down with the Doctor Who star for an interview about his upcoming show Around The World in 80 Days where Tennant complimented the BBC journalist.
Ahead of Marr’s last show ending, the duo reminisced about the first time the Bathgate -born actor made an appearance on the show many years ago.
Marr recalled: “I think the first time we talked you hadn’t started on Doctor Who and you were worried about the sort of effect it would have on your private life. You thought there’d be a bit of publicity?”
“It’s been a long journey Andrew,” Tennant responded.
“Life is very different these days but it’s been a privilege to be part of it and a privilege to come on here every now and then to talk about it.”
As their chat winded down, Tennant wasted no time in applauding the host for his amazing work over the course of two decades at the BBC.
“Andrew, we will miss you so much on a Sunday morning by the way,” Tennant told him. “I know you don’t like being showered with praise, but you are the epitome of everything that is good about this corporation.”
“Stop, stop, stop, stop!” a red-faced Marr said in retaliation.
“It’s true,” Tennant persisted. “We will miss you!”

“That is very kind of you, “Marr replied.
The journalist spent over 16 years overseeing his own Sunday morning show admitting he felt ‘privileged’ to share so many Sunday mornings with his viewers.
His final programme featured a montage of highlights for the journalist over his almost two decades on the show, including interviews with Tony Blair, Greta Thunberg, Barack Obama and Vladimir Putin.
Sophie Raworth will be the interim presenter of the Sunday morning programme which is going to be temporarily retitled Sunday Morning from January 9.
The TV presenter signed off his last ever show with a quote from Anchorman, stating: “I have been wondering how to close this final show, but I can’t do better than quoting my great mentor. You stay classy, San Diego.”
